![]() How much English is spoken in this area of France? Language: My high school French is embarrassingly bad. Couchsurfing: is this at all a done thing in the Dordogne / France? I am travelling solo for my trip, as I have not managed to convince anyone else to take the time off work to join me, and having couchsurfed a lot in the past I find it is a great way to meet locals. Does anyone have any experience driving an electric car in France, and in the Dordogne in particular - is there an app I should download, and anything I should do in advance of my trip, or anything I should think about in advance? I have looked online and it seems like there are a lot of electric car charging stations in the Dordogne, but I could not find a 'guide' to how they worked (I have never driven an electric car before). ![]() Electric car hire: I have hired an electric car from Bordeaux. I am less interested in visiting the big towns, though I do plan to see Sarlat, Rocamadour and Periguex. Should I base myself in one place, and do day trips, or should I move from place to place? Is there any stand-out activity I should do, or place I should visit, that I haven't put on my itinerary? I am really interested in kayaking, visiting vineyards, beautiful villages, and some of the prehistoric sites / chateaux, but there are so many to visit I do not know what to prioritise. What I do not know is where I should focus my time. I was thinking of beginning with Perigueux in the north first, with day trips to Brantome and Bourdeilles, before heading east then south and meandering along the Dordogne and Vezere river valleys and visiting some of the prehistoric sites around Lascaux. Places to visit: I have prepared a really rough itinerary to mostly visit the southern parts of Dordogne as well as the area which I think is technically in Lot (around Rocamadour). Here are a couple of questions I hope will help me plan my trip: I have just booked a car for 15 days from Bordeaux starting 28/09 and I am looking for some advice on the trips from locals or people who are familiar from the area. I am a New Zealander (30M) looking to visit the Dordogne region in late September- early October.
